Y Health Locks Heath

Health and well being project returns to Y Services

Y Health Locks Heath started this week at Genesis Centre, Locks Heath. The session, suitable for 11 to 16 year olds, supports health and well being through discussion, activities and cooking.

It is a free session starting at 3pm until 5pm. For more information about the project email charlie@yservices.co.uk.

This project is supported by Hampshire and Isle of Wight Community Foundation and Kenwood Community Fund.

Matchfunding opportunity with Aviva

Y Services, like a lot of small charities are seeking funding through different avenues. We have a unique opportunity to work in partnership with Aviva to support young people with developing their financial skills for the future. With this funding, every Y Services youth club will have activities to support financial wellbeing over the next 12 months.
 
We are looking to raise £5000 in 6 weeks. Our crowd funding page, in partnership with Aviva, is available here –
 
 
Every penny raised through crowdfunding will be matched by Aviva and will go towards providing quality youth work and developing vital financial life skills. Join us by investing in support for local young people. Whatever you can spare we are truly grateful.

Pop up shop

Y Scrapstore Pop Up Shop

Y Scrapstore is holding a pop up sale in XPerience Youth Centre, Fareham, po16 7SJ, on Sunday 29 September between 11am and 1pm. All profits from the sale go to help support Y Services projects.

Entry is £1, under 12s go free. Bring along a bag for life to fill for £6 or a bin bag for £10. There are also individually priced crafting items to purchase.

Y Scrapstore is a fantastic community resource that helps you to make your money go further. A room full of art, craft and play resources, there is something for everyone – whether you looking to complete craft project, props for a show or even a little home decor! The possibilities are endless!

Membership to Y Scrapstore is not required to attend this event.

Emoji Workshop at Fratton

Fratton Youth Club recently welcomed Clare and Paul from Splodge Designs to the project. Clare and Paul delivered an Emoji Making Workshop, artwork created during the session will be projected during a public puppet show performance in September.

Young people attending Fratton Youth Club were beaming with pride after seeing their art pieces as a collective group and can’t wait to see them in the performance.

Fratton Youth Club is part of a city wide community art project by Splodge Designs gathering designs to be part of the show taking place at Portsmouth Guildhall’s studio theatre. The event is free but entry is by ticket only. We will post a link as soon as tickets are available.

Y Aspire is back!

 
Genesis Youth Centre are hosting an Emotional Mental Health event on Saturday 16 March between 2pm and 4pm at Centre Way, Locks Heath.
 
Suitable for ages 10 to 18 years, this FREE event is full of strategies to support emotional mental health as well as fun activities.

Y Aspire is back!

Y Aspire is back!

 
Y Aspire is back!
 
With grateful thanks from Havant and Fareham LCP’s,we are re-launching Y Aspire. A mentoring service supporting young people into education, training or work.
 
The project is running slightly differently this year. Applicants need to live in Fareham or Havant postcode areas and aged between 16 and 25. As with the previous project applicants must be willing to work/learn. Personalised support is offered to each applicant in order to move forward on their chosen path.

It has been a very busy year for us at Y Services, so now is the time for our members of staff, youth workers and team of volunteers* to take a well deserved break.

Best wishes to you all for a joyful, restful and peaceful festive holiday, from us all at Y Services. We look forward to welcoming you back on Tuesday 2nd January 2024 when we can wish you a prosperous and hopeful New Year.

Co-op Local Community Funding

Massive thanks to all Co-op Members who chose Y Services – Genesis to benefit from Co-op Local Community Funding over the past year, we are overwhelmed by the support given. This very kind and generous donation of £2199.29 will go towards supporting young people’s mental health through small group sessions and also to improve resources.
 
We would also like to say a massive thank you to Lynsey and her team for their support and food donations over the past year. Your support has been invaluable and we really feel that you are part of the Y Services family.
